An open letter to anyone starting over…

For those who are starting over everyday, congrats! For those making new decisions that will shape their destiny, my good wishes! As for me, there’s nothing more magical than a brand new day. When you wake up at dawn as the sky gets brighter and the morning twilight heralds the beginning of a new day. It’s just wonderful!

However, starting over has a few connotations, that well, are not so cherry. For example, “Oh look at me, at 55, I’m not taking a new job” and “Oh no, I’m too old to make new friends”.

But the true meaning of starting over looks a bit more like this : “I’m single, ready to mingle and starting over again!”

This is a beautiful outlook when new changes come into place. As we know, changes are hard for a lot of people cause it messes up with their current and comfortable flow of reality. However, starting over for me is a blessing in the sky!

For example, I’m constantly starting over! If is not moving, is trying a new job or taking a leap of faith with a new friendship or living in a country for 3 months to just “see how it feels”. You name it! The excitement of starting something new and NOT boring gives me the wings to fly.

Nevertheless this is not the case for everybody. Why? Because fear creeps in. Some examples: “I won’t breakup this relationship cause I’m afraid I won’t find anybody else”; “I want to move out of this city, but I’m afraid to start over in a new place” or “I won’t quit this job because I’m afraid no else would hire me at my age”.

So, here is a letter for you:

Dear human,

Starting over is a blessing. This is a reminder you can start over anytime.

Nothing in the universe can stop you from letting go and starting over.

Your day is not ruined. Your world is not over.

Start with your fear, with your doubt, with your hand shakings and your voice trembling, but start.

Remember you will not be starting from scratch, you will be starting with experience.

Take a deep breath and start over.

“I hope you live a life you are proud of. If you find you are not, I hope you have the strength to start over again”- F. Fitzgerald

Best of luck, Cristina

Have a great week and happy new moon (for the moon lovers!)

PS. Starting over can start with a small ritual (for blessings!). For example, writing your goals for the next 6 months and lighting a candle for your good wishes.
