Plan more trips around nature..here is why!

I’m usually all in for nature trips! Therefore, when one of my best friends told me she was going to Utah for a nature trip I didn’t think twice. I was prepared to do a trip for the weekend. However, one week later I was still on the road. Here is my story…

Same clothes, a few showers, 4 hotel stays, 4 nights of “carplimg” (yes sleeping in our car) and working remotely; I can say I love this lifestyle. Oh guys, what a trip!

I visited 4 National Parks, 1 tribe park, 2 national forests, drove the most impressive views, spent an amazing time with friends and generous families; and gained an experience I will never forget.

I want to share with you what I learned on my nature trip and I know it will be valuable for you:

1. Trips around nature make you more aware of our planet – you learn from people in the field, you learn about history, you see the changes in our environment due to climate change; and you become aware that you are not the only specimen sharing this Earth. Something lights up in you and make you more aware of the beauty around.

2. Times slows way down – Most of us live a pretty hectic life and going into nature help us realize how simple life can be. Sitting down next to a waterfall, hiking awe inspiring trails, and taking photos of inspiring scenery is a few of the activities you can do to slow your time. Bonus point : you loose cellphone signal most of the time. Which means, you are more connected to nature!

3. You start to enjoy simplicity – On my experience, I was lucky enough to stay a few nights in a hotel (my back needed this!). However, I gain a different perspective by sleeping in our car. Waking up at sunrise with birds singing and went to sleep with a sky full with stars. Starting my day to the smell of coffee while surrounded by beautiful sceneries. I no longer cared about taking a shower everyday or having my lavish breakfast (although doable if you have a nice gas stove)…but, in reflection: life becomes better when its more simple. Needing less and wanting less became my daily thing.

4. Nature gives you time to reflect – What really matters? Why you have been dwelling into small matters? Also, gives you a reminder of where you are and where you are going.I learned that sometimes letting go of your structured plans and going with the flow works for the best! My trip was planned for 3 days and ended up being 8 days and 7 nights. My state of mind needed this trip. Now I see life in a different way.

In conclusion, I urge anyone reading this article— if your still reading (thanks!)— GO to nature! She’s waiting for you to discover her and to learn valuable lessons that you won’t forget for the rest of your life!

xoxo,

Cristina
