We all know that the wearing of black is most commonly associated with funerals, church services, courtrooms, ceremonies, important business transactions, and formal social events. But have you ever think what these have in common? These are all settings where important and serious purposes must be served, situations in which personal distractions cannot and shall not be tolerated.
I decided to dress in black for the rest of the month. Some may say I become a true New Yorker now. I didn’t knew a city can be known for a color. But I get it, New York is completely black. So much dirt, so much darkness in places, you see it on people faces and the night comes early on the colder months.
But no, I’m not dressing in black because of this city. For those who know me I love colors. I’m dressing in black because I’m facing some challenges in my life and I’m in a need to say goodbye to old habits. Like I said in one of my last post and getting rid of old stuff and patterns in my life.
In order to see the change I have to make the different. So, you may ask why black?
1. Black is universal.
2. Black is sexy. Bringing my sexy back.
3. Black fits any personality, even my colorful one.
4. Not because I wear black means bad energy or wtvr they said. Means I’m in control of myself.
In the world of fashion, we are all familiar with the expression, “basic black”. Often this signifies that the wearing of black ensures compatibility with accessories of any other color; just about any color will complement black. However, there is another meaning to “basic black”, and that is the concept of dispensing with all that is superfluous, leaving behind only that which is truly essential.
Black signifies the absence of unnecessary, extra colorations or filters that would detrimentally disguise or dilute the essential purpose at hand.
I may sound dark, but no. I’m just trying something different even if is on my wardrobe. What about you? Are trying something different?
xoxo,
Cristina
