Oh, technology what a glorious invention! So grateful to be writing on a computer where I can hit click and my voice can be heard. So grateful to connect with my loved ones when we are apart and so many other things I like with all the apps and features that make our lives so easy.
However, because we are so connected sometimes we are blindsided with the idea that interactions via social media are real connections. We think that by liking a picture, commenting on a post and scrolling on someone’s feed every now and then will give us the same feeling as a genuine true connection. We are wrong.
As much as I like to dislike and dislike to love social media I know this is NOT where the real connections are established- at least on my experience. For me, a real connection is a face to face, a nice semi-long chat over the phone, a letter and nice message “I’m thinking about you”. A real connection is showing up, caring for your loved ones, putting the “effort” in maintaining those real relationships. It’s about the fact of caring and love.
So, this is a reminder for you: don’t replace likes, emojis and comments in social media with real connections. If you want someone in your life make a call, send a nice message and make the effort. Human connection is about caring, showing up and really showing your love. 💕 If the affection is not reciprocate, which is a pity, give the gift of your absence to those who don’t appreciate your presence.Â
Have a nice day!
xoxo,
Cristina
