1. Friends come and go – the friends you have now may not stick to you when you don’t feel like partying later on. Learn to differentiate the real ones and the ones who only want you when is time to party.
2. Hangovers – At 21 your hangover could last like 2 hours and in your late 20’s the hangover could last 2 days. Your body is not used to your college lifestyle anymore. You will learn to drink alcohol and water will become one of your best friends.
3. Nobody is going to be there to pick up your shit – Yep..if you make a mistake you are older now to fix it. Parents give you more responsibilities for your actions and you will have to pay the bills, do groceries, clean, etc…
4. Money goes away fast – You may have to learn that the only way of earning good money is by working hard. $$ can go as easy as a blink. You may have to learn to save money (boo).
5. You could be the older person in the dance floor – you may look young, but the 18 yrs old really drunk next to you will remain you that you are older or a least more mature.
6. Sleep – You may not sleep until 4 p.m. anymore. You may be lucky to wake up at 11 a.m. and you will think it’s late. Also, on weekdays you will think that 10 p.m. is late and you could fall asleep before 9 p.m.
7. Marriage – A lot of your friends will be getting married soon. Be ready to save money for their weddings and to have a hangover for 2 days lol. Also, if you’re not close to be married, don’t put the pressure upon yourself or on your “other half”.
8. Eating – You will become more cautious on what you eat. You will not eat a lot of greasy food… you will be more self-conscious with your health and well-being.
10. You will think twice before going out – yeah, not all days are partying and some days you’ll stay home. You would not care if you stay home watching t.v. on a Friday night. Your priorities will change and you will be more likely to enjoy the day out than the night.
11. You may live by your own – you will have no one to make you dinner or clean your bedroom. Now, you will be responsible of everything you do in your house. You would remember when your parents used to tell you “clean your dishes” and think they were right- organize and clean home, feels good!
12. Drunk texting – This will diminish a lot. No more awkward mornings seeing your phone and thinking “what the fuck I just send?”. Every morning now will be pleasant after a great night out.
13. Driving – You will be more careful driving and you’ll not drive drunk like old times. You’ll think about safety and protection first.
14. Dance moves – Your dance moves can look like you’re in your late 70’s…please try to improve your technique and don’t be shy to dance. Remember how well you dance in your early 20’s.
15. You will be more self-conscious – You will be more careful how you act on restaurants, meeting people, what to say, how fit you’re and how to dress. You don’t want to portrait that you are too young or too old.
16. Parents – You’ll have a better relationships with your parents. They will become your mentors and best friends. You will appreciate all their hard work.
17. You will cook more – You would think you are the next Top Chef. Also, you discover that cooking home is way cheaper than eating out.
18. Social involved – you will learn that it’s important to know about the things concerning the world. A way of making friends and new connections is having knowledge and good conversations with stuff relating society’s well-being. You may donate some extra bucks to charities.
19. Job – You will learn that having a job sucks, but having a career on what you love is more rewarding.
20. You will get to know you more – You will stop sucking your friends feet and doing what your family expect from you….You will enjoy your time alone discovering yourself more.
If any of you learn something different, please share with me!
Thanks, Cristina
